Henrique Mouro

The Chef of the oldest and most sophisticated restaurant in Portugal.

He has a passion for gastronomy, and at the age of 20 enrolled at Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo de Lisboa (Lisbon School of Hotel Management and Tourism), which gave him the theoretical and practice basic in the Kitchen and Bakery.

After internships at the Alfa and Radisson Hotels, in Lisbon, he was hired by Hotel Méridien, which he only left for the famous Bica do Sapato as Sous Chef.

A year and a half later he was hired by Pestana palace, in Lisbon, as main Chef, for the opening of the extraordinary Valle-Flor, which he only left seven years later as Executive Sous Chef.

He was then, immediately after, responsible for turning the Quinta de Catralvos Restaurant – in the unlikely location of Azeitão – into a national food reference.

Two years later, he finally opened his own restaurant, the magnificent Assinatura, located in the heart of Lisbon. A delightful place with a unique characteristic: the Chef’s Table, a reserved glass room above the kitchen, where you may witness the creative bustle of a ‘haute-cuisine’ team preparing the delights you will taste.

In 2013 Henrique Mouro took over the kitchen of the oldest and most sophisticated restaurant in Portugal: the very famous Tavares, known as Tavares Rico (the Rich Tavares), that counts from now on with the touch of genius of one of the most inspirational Portuguese Chefs of nowadays.
